Deductive Logic >:D

psychedelic - Takeharu Ishimoto
There are three types out of the who knows how many forms of deductive logic, that we talked about today.

Syllogisms

Syllogisms are a from of deductive reasoning, containing three main components: the major premise, minor premise and conclusion. Each statement has two terms in the statement. There is the "A", "B" and "C" term. Usually the form of a syllogism is like this :

A=B
B=C <<<>:O
A=C

Example:
Major Premise: Blastoise screams "BLAAAAAAAS-TOIIISE"
Minor Premise: Brock heard a
"BLAAAAAAAS-TOIIISE"
Conclusion: Brock heard a Blastoise

Modus Ponens
Modus Ponens, is a form of deductive reasoning that involves the statement "If p, then q." Where p is a positive premise and from that we can be sure that q is a positive premise and true, if it meets the condition of p.

If p, then q
p
-------------
therefore, q

Example:
If Ash catches a Pokemon, then he uses a Pokeball
Ash caught a Pokemon,
----------
Therefore he used a Pokeball

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modus Tollens
Modus Tollens is the last form of deductive reasoning we learned about today. It is similar to Modus Pollens, however, it proves a negative premise. If a "If p, then q" statement is given, and q is a negative premise, we can be certain that p is negative as well.

If p, then q
p
-------------
therefore, q

Example:
If Pikachu is sick, then he is overloaded with electricity,
Pikachu is not overloaded with electricity,
-----------
Therefore, Pikachu is not sick

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Filler-ness? Hope you enjoy the song :P
